Cerro Pan de Azúcar is the third highest point in Uruguay (423m). On the way up, you can see the autochthonous vegetation 🌿 and enjoy the beautiful sights 🏖 of Maldonado. On its summit, there is a 35m tall cross with a spiral staircase leading to the horizontal part of the cross, which offers a view of the area through small openings 🗻. The trail is short (1km) but quite stiff. For this reason, everyone is required to have shoes and at least 1 litre of water. The trail is open fro hiking from 8:00 to 15:00.

Go to Cabo Polonio
Go to Cabo Polonio

Visit this magic town and its pristine environment. Cabo Polonio has no electricity or running water in order to preserve the natural reserve 🏖. People there use wind power, generators and obtain water from nearby water wells or collecting rainwater. There are a few houses and hostels where you can stay a few nights. Some of the local highlights are beautiful beaches (good surf 🏄‍♂), huge dunes and a lighthouse. No motor vehicles are allowed in the reserve, therefore you need to reach the Cabo Polonio Terminal and get a ride in a 4x4 vehicle or walk (7km) to the town.
